ESP3 Finishes the Series of FGD: Support to Monitoring and Estimation of Energy Conservation Policies Impact
ESP3 Finishes The Series of FGD on “Support to Monitoring and Estimation of Energy Conservation Policies Impact” in Transportation and Household Sector
On April 5, 2017 Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Transportation and Households sectors was held as another milestone achieved for “Support to Monitoring and Estimation of Energy Conservation Policies Impact” project. To support Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) in estimating the effects of energy conservation policies and collecting data from four different sectors (household, building, industry, transportation) is necessary to form an energy model to rely upon. The Indonesian Institute for Energy Economics (IIEE) plays consultancy role in this project.
Since the previous FGD focused on Building and Industrial sector, the views from prominent stakeholders in Transportation and Households sectors are also important to address. The FGD took places in Bogor, divided into two sessions. First session focuses on transportation sector with attendants from EBTKE, Garuda Indonesia, Kereta Api Indonesia, Organda (Organization of Land Transport), BPTJ (Agency of Jabodetabek Transportation Providers), and Pelni. Second session focuses on household sector with stakeholders coming from EBTKE, Ministry of Trade, Aperlindo (Indonesian Industrial Electrified Lightning Association), GABEL (Union of Electronics Industry and Household Devices), and Gamatrindo (Union of Lighting Manufacturers).
On each session, the consultant delivered a draft result of the study for both sector. It started from an introduction of study, objectives, methods, expected outcomes, until elaborating the data gap expected to be filled in the FGD. The discussion, that was moderated by Mrs. Febi of Directorate of Energy Conservation EBTKE, went smoothly and each stakeholder shared their experiences to discuss current situation and future energy demand projection. All participants actively shared their relevant comments for the result improvement.
The interactive discussion gave valuable input on the model. FGD also became a networking event for stakeholders in each sector to discuss energy demand and how to tackle it over cross-sectoral issues.
