A portal to assist industries with high energy consumption to report their energy consumption and conservation measures has been launched by the Directorate of Energy Conservation, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The portal has been developed as a joint effort between the directorate and a team of IT consultants supported by ESP3.
Wednesday the 1st of October, a Cooperation Agreement on Energy Efficiency Project between APAC Inti Corpora (AIC) and ESP3 was signed in Pullman Hotel, Jakarta. Dr Peter Oksen, ESP3 Programme Advisor and Mr Anas Bahfen, Director of AIC signed the agreement on behalf of ESP3 Programme and AIC, respectively.
The signatory event was followed by the third ESP3 Programme Steering Committee (PSC) meeting chaired by Ms Endah Murniningtyas, who is also Bappenas' Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
Villagers in Pasarean, Adiwerna District, Tegal Regency in Central Java live in an environment polluted with heavy metals. Decades of home industry smelting have left hundreds of tonnes of heavily polluting waste scattered through the village, and groundwater supplies unusable.
ESP3 in Central Java has welcomed back two participants from training at the Danida Fellowship Centre in Copenhagen. The representatives, from the provincial Environment Agency and the provincial Trade and Industry office, learned about addressing climate change in development assistance.
